About Living in Pointe-Claire, Quebec

Transportation

The best method to move around in Pointe-Claire is very often a car. Most properties for sale are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc, and it is very easy to park. However, the public transit service in Pointe-Claire is sometimes poor. Nonetheless, there is the Gare Pointe-Claire, Gare Cedar Park and Gare Valois on the Vaudreuil-Hudson Line. The city is linked by approximately 30 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most properties. Walking in this part of the Greater Montreal metropolitan area is not very popular, even though many common errands can be run on foot. Travelling by bicycle is also challenging in this city since there are a fair number of hills for cyclists to brave, and the cycling network is rather poor.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are convenient to get to on foot from most houses for sale in this part of the Greater Montreal metropolitan area. However, there are only a limited number of high schools and accordingly they can be a rather long walk away. Regarding food, some residents in this city may be able to buy groceries on foot in one of around 20 stores, while others will have to turn to a vehicle. There are also a limited number of choices for those who value nearby restaurants and cafes.

Character

The character of Pointe-Claire is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. Greenery is reasonably present in this city as there are numerous tree-lined streets. Public green spaces are very well-located and there are over 50 of them close by for residents to visit, which results in them being easy to get to from the majority of locations within this city. This part of the Greater Montreal metropolitan area is also reasonably quiet, as the streets are generally calm - although that is not the case around Autoroute Félix-Leclerc, Autoroute du Souvenir or one of the railway lines.
