A majority of the houses for sale in this part of Québec are located in places that are not very suitable for walking because very few common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. Lac-Saint-Charles is also not very suited for biking as the cycling network is not very well-developed, and bicycling is rendered strenuous by the often steep area.

Regarding education, primary schools are not very plentiful in this part of the city, and therefore not always within walking distance, and there are no high schools. Most areas in Lac-Saint-Charles are especially quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Numerous locations within the neighbourhood have fairly good access to green spaces, including Parc des Marais-du-Nord, since they aren't well-spread out.
