Driving is a very good transportation option in Coquitlam. Coming across a parking spot is generally easy. However, this city is not an especially pleasant part of the Greater Vancouver metropolitan area for moving around by public transit. Nevertheless, property owners can depend on the Burquitlam Station, Lincoln Station and Coquitlam Central Station on the West Coast Express Line and Millenium Line. There are many rapid transit stations on the Millenium Line. The city is connected by approximately 30 bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. Coquitlam is not very suited for cycling as bicycling is made arduous by the typically steep topography. Nevertheless, the bicycling infrastructure is extensive. Coquitlam is also not very suitable for those who travel by foot since very few day-to-day needs can be carried out by walking.

The nearest supermarket in this city is typically only a reasonably short walk away. There are over 50 supermarkets in Coquitlam, and the best selection can be found on streets like Ridgeway Avenue. Residents are served by over 350 restaurants and cafes as well. With respect to education, primary schools and daycares are convenient to access on foot from anywhere in Coquitlam. In contrast, high schools are not especially numerous and accordingly may require a rather long walk to get to. Besides public schools, there are private elementary and secondary schools.
Character
Coquitlam is a reasonably good city to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm atmosphere. There are over 250 parks nearby for residents to visit, which makes it very easy to get to them. This city is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case near one of the railway lines or Trans-Canada Highway.
