Dominating the skyline of Burnaby, large apartment complexes make up about a quarter of the available housing, with the city's remaining homes primarily consisting of smaller apartment buildings, duplexes, and standalone houses. There's a diverse range of home sizes, from compact lofts to spacious residences boasting four or more bedrooms. Approximately two-thirds of these homes are owned by residents, while rentals account for one-third. Around 30% of Burnaby's homes sprang up post-2000, whereas the bulk of the older constructions date back to before 1960 and the 1960s.
