The best way to navigate Rivière-des-Prairies is very often a car. It is easy to park, and most real estate listings are a rather short drive from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Métropolitaine. In contrast, getting around by transit can be at times difficult in Rivière-des-Prairies by reason of the infrequent service. Nonetheless, homeowners can count on the Gare Rivière-des-Prairies and Gare Anjou with access to the Mascouche Line. The neighbourhood is connected by approximately 20 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is generally just around the corner. Rivière-des-Prairies is not especially conducive to walking since few common errands can be run without the use of a car. It is also occasionally difficult to travel by bicycle in this part of Montréal as the cycling network is somewhat poor, and there are a fair number of elevation changes.

Property owners in Rivière-des-Prairies will welcome that a grocery store is always only a reasonably short walk away. Avenue André-Ampère is among the best streets for groceries. There are also a few opportunities for those who appreciate nearby restaurants and cafes. As far as education is concerned, families will welcome that wherever their home is located in this neighbourhood, primary schools and daycares are nearby. However, it can be challenging to walk to high schools from houses for sale in Rivière-des-Prairies.
Character
Rivière-des-Prairies offers a slower-paced ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. There is not that much greenery in this area; more specifically, residents will find that there are few tree-lined streets. However, it is very easy to reach public green spaces in the neighbourhood, since there are over 100 of them close by for residents to discover and most properties have a park very close by. This area is also good for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several noisier areas, especially near Autoroute Métropolitaine, Autoroute Félix-Leclerc or the railway line.
