Transportation
Driving is a very good mode of transportation in Southlands. Parking is easy. In contrast, the public transit network in this neighbourhood is not especially convenient. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and it is straightforward to get to a nearby bus stop from most homes. Commuting by bicycle is at times difficult in this area since bicycling is made strenuous by the typically hilly terrain, and there are a limited number of bike lanes. This part of Vancouver is also not particularly well-suited for those who travel by foot because few common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle.
Services
In all but a limited number of cases, a car is needed to buy groceries. Regarding education, it is a reasonably short walk to get to daycares and primary schools from anywhere in this neighbourhood. In contrast, Southlands does not contain any high schools.
Character
